A great example of a travelodge!
Decent prices for 2 nights, clean rooms, nicely made bed, plump pillows, warm shower and great location.
Would be amazing if this location had a bar cafe!
Will be staying again

Very convenient location for what we were doing. Plenty of car parks within walking distance. This particular hotel did not have a bar or restaurant or super rooms. But it was still a pleasant stay. We had a nice smiling greeting from the hotel manager when we checked in. Dropped on star for the very poor pressure in the shower, but the water temperature was fine.

We had a great one night stay just before Christmas.
Friendly chap on reception was so helpful.
Clean rooms with facilities which are needed.
Great! We will be back!

Room is exactly what you expect from a Travelodge. Basic but everything you need. The price of room was excellent and the location was perfect for the town centre. The only unfortunate thing was there was an unusual smell in the room.

For a 2 star hotel for £50 a night this Travelodge is perfectly adequate. It is what is says on the tin! Room on third floor was clean. My pillow was too hard and the room was overly warm but I still slept absolutely fine. Tiny car park but we found parking on the road. I would stay again.

Exactly as expected for a Travelodge. Limited parking is a downside but there's a carpark close by.

Wrong side of the canal. Fairly useless staff, no parking, Bed linen budget quality, one floppy pillow one rock hard one. Room size ok, two teabags, no cleaners, TV but no fridge.

Rooms starting to get tatty. Especially the carpets. Staff are friendly. Gets very hot in the summer.

Helpful staff, but room backed onto quite busy road so was stuffy room. Florescent lights also make it feel a bit depressing. Good central location for Newbury though, easy walk to get anywhere.

Excellent location, few minutes walk into town centre. Clean, quiet, decent shower, plenty hot water and a beer bottle opener but no Cork screw for wine?? Not all guests are beer drinkers...

I've grumbled about Travelodge before.
You know why you can't open the windows fully in a Travelodge? They're worried you'll jump out. Why would you jump out? You're in an effing Travelodge!
The only thing that set this one apart was the very polite and charming desk staff.
I should add that the couple in the next room had a lovely time. Several times.

So, we do like Newbury and have stayed at different places; however this was our first stay at this particular Travelodge.
Great location, walking distance to the train station, walking distance to town and walking distance to Toby Carvery.
Easy check in, as we arrived early staff were happy for us to leave our bags so we could venture out before our room was ready. Staff friendly and helpful.
We were surprised not to find a hairdryer in the room, but following a short jog down to reception we were supplied with one.
The room was clean as were the communal areas.
It is handy that toiletries are provided. The shower was lovely, hot and powerful. They still have the dreaded shower curtain though.
The negatives,
- The lifts constantly smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, to the point we can only assume people whom appeared to be residing in the hotel were lighting up before getting outside. (This is assumed from what we witnessed)
- The light in our bathroom had a fault and would not always turn on. (We did report to be fixed)
All in all we would certainly stay again.
